Reconnecting with Your Body and the Way You See Yourself

Our body is the first place we call home. It is also one of the places where social expectations, stereotypes, discrimination and judgement can come together.

For IAM Intersectionalities and More APS, Body Positivity means going beyond the idea that we should “love our body” at all costs. It means creating the conditions for every person to see themselves, choose how they want to express themselves and feel free to be who they are — without having to fit into predetermined aesthetic, age-related, gender or social standards.

Our approach is intersectional. We recognise that everyone’s experience of their body and appearance is different. Age, gender, identity, gender expression, disability, physical characteristics and many other aspects of our lives can intersect, creating different forms of pressure, exclusion and discrimination.

That is why we do not work on appearance to teach people how they are supposed to look. We support each person in discovering how they want to look, feel and be seen.

Rediscovering Your Image: A Journey of Self-Care

Taking care of the way we present ourselves can be a powerful tool for wellbeing, self-awareness and self-determination.

Our programmes begin with the individual — their desires, experiences and personal story. Through one-to-one support, we explore their relationship with their appearance, how they express their identity and how they can bring forward the aspects of themselves that genuinely feel like who they are.

There is no single definition of beauty.

There is no “right” age to feel beautiful.

There is no right way to look.

There is the freedom to choose.

Older Adults — Rediscovering and Embracing Your Image

As we grow older, our bodies change. So do our tastes, our needs and the way we see ourselves.
Yet society often makes older people and older bodies invisible, presenting ageing as a process of loss, limitation or withdrawal from social life.
Our programme aims to challenge this narrative.
We support older adults in rediscovering and caring for the way they see and present themselves today. Together, we explore what feels authentic, what reflects who they are now and how they can reconnect with the pleasure of choosing how they want to show up in the world — for others and, above all, for themselves.
This is not about “looking younger”.
It is about feeling present, visible and fully represented by the person you see in the mirror.

People Experiencing Gender Transition — Image as a Space for Self-Determination

During a gender transition, the relationship with our body and appearance can take on a deeply personal meaning.
The way we dress, present ourselves, style our hair or choose to highlight certain features can become an important part of a journey towards self-recognition and self-affirmation.
Our service provides a respectful, supportive and non-judgemental space in which to explore personal image and discover ways of expressing yourself that feel aligned with your identity and with how you want to be seen.
We do not promote a particular aesthetic or suggest how anyone “should” look.
Instead, we support each person in discovering their own way of expressing themselves, respecting their pace, wishes, identity and individual journey.

For Everyone — Discovering Your Own Image

Our relationship with our appearance can be complex at any stage of life.
Sometimes we no longer recognise ourselves in the way we dress. Sometimes we feel ready for a change, want to experiment, rediscover parts of ourselves we have neglected, or simply understand what makes us feel comfortable and confident.
Our programme is open to anyone who wants to explore their personal image.
Together, we look at personal tastes, individual characteristics, the way you want to express and tell your story, and how to create an image that reflects you — rather than other people’s expectations.
Because valuing yourself does not mean hiding the things you do not like.
It means learning to see yourself through new eyes and choosing how you want to express who you are.

A Vision of Beauty Beyond Stereotypes

For us, Body Positivity is not about feeling good about your body every single day.It is about recognising every person’s right to live in their body without shame, to be visible and to choose how they want to present themselves. Our work begins with listening, respecting and celebrating difference.Because we do not need bodies that fit the mould. We need more freedom to live in our bodies and express who we are.IAM Intersectionalities and More APS creates programmes where personal image becomes a space for self-awareness, self-expression and self-determination.
